Introduction

Bekasi Regency, located in West Java Province, Indonesia, is one of the regions that symbolize Indonesia’s industrial development. It is home to numerous industrial parks, making it an attractive investment destination for both domestic and international companies.

In recent years, the region has also been focusing on residential and urban development, gaining attention not only as a place to work but also as a desirable place to live.

Bekasi’s Industrial Parks in Numbers

A City with 10 Industrial Parks

Bekasi Regency in West Java Province is one of the largest industrial regions in Southeast Asia. It hosts approximately 10 large-scale industrial parks (the count may vary slightly depending on classification), with over 7,600 domestic and international companies operating within the region. The core area of this industrial concentration is the Cikarang district. Major industrial parks with a significant presence of Japanese companies include Jababeka Industrial Estate, MM2100 Industrial Town, East Jakarta Industrial Park (EJIP), and Delta Silicon Industrial Park.

The Bekasi Regency Government has enacted a Regional Regulation on Investment Incentives and Facilitation to actively attract investment.

Bekasi Regency’s investment growth rate continues to rise, currently the highest in West Java Province. In 2024, investment in Bekasi Regency reached IDR 71.8 trillion (approximately USD 4.17 billion) — accounting for 28.6% of the province’s total investment — surpassing even Karawang Regency, another well-known industrial area in the province.

Cikarang: Increasingly Popular as a Residential Area

Cikarang, long known for its concentration of industrial parks, once had a reputation for poor air quality and an unfavorable living environment.

In recent years, however, the area has undergone significant residential development, and is now increasingly recognized as a modern, livable city — characterized by abundant greenery, well-developed infrastructure, and a high level of public safety.

A prominent example of this transformation is Kota Deltamas (Deltamas City). Developed by local firm Sinar Mas Land in partnership with Sojitz Corporation of Japan, Deltamas City is a large-scale mixed-use urban development spanning 3,200 hectares. It features not only industrial zones, but also residential areas, commercial facilities, hospitals, schools, and government offices.

MM2100 is directly connected to the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road, offering excellent access to Tanjung Priok Port on the outskirts of Jakarta and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport — a major advantage as a production and logistics hub.

Established in 1990, MM2100 is not only a long-standing industrial park but is also noted for its advanced environmental initiatives. It was certified as an Eco-Industrial Park by the United Nations and the Indonesian government in 2020, and in 2021 received the government’s Smart Industrial Park award.
